I'm a non pro NRHA (National Reining Horse Association) competitor and breeder of reining horses.
While I love this sport, it's not what matters to me most about life with horses.
I find that horses enrich my life in so many ways. The benefits of owning a horse (or horses):
1) They help keep your kids out of trouble and teach them responsibility.
2) They give you an escape from a busy, regimented life, teach you to calm down, and help you stay in touch with nature, yourself,
and get your emotions on an even keel. They give you exercise and probably help keep you healthy.
3) And, if you ride and show reining horses, you get to go faster than a NASCAR driver, be as precise and analytical as a
PGA golfer, and you're able to challenge yourself in more ways than you can count. You get an adrenelin rush you won't match
anywhere else...reining horses are the Ferraris of the horse world,
but with heart and soul. Plus... you get to dress like a cowboy.

Reining, the fastest growing horse sport in the US, and perhaps worldwide, offers unmatched excitement for spectators, participants,
owners, and investors.
The only western horse sport in international competition, it celebrates the horses of the old west--with maneuvers based
on working cattle.
Like old-time ranch horses, reiners are broke--safe for kids, inexperienced riders, trail riding, and having fun.
A sport for the thinking rider, it requires split-second decision-making, brainpower more than athleticism. Competitors range
from age 8 to 80. Great horses, great people, fun times.
